Afghan Minister Says India, Afghanistan Share 'One DNA'

Afghanistan's Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Minister Mawlawi Ataullah Omari said India and Afghanistan share a deep historical and cultural bond during his visit to New Delhi. Speaking after bilateral discussions with Indian Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Omari remarked that the "DNA of Afghanistan and India is one," describing the close relationship between the people of both nations.

Expressing gratitude for India's warm hospitality, Omari said he never felt like he was in a foreign country, adding that India felt like home rather than an "ajnabi" place. His comments reflected the centuries-old cultural, trade and people-to-people ties that have connected the two countries.

During the meeting, India and Afghanistan discussed strengthening cooperation in agriculture, irrigation, livestock, seed technology, research and capacity building. Both sides also agreed to enhance collaboration through a Joint Working Group aimed at supporting Afghanistan's agricultural development and expanding bilateral cooperation.
