CJP Protesters Break Barricades in Delhi, Two Cops Hurt

Tensions escalated during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest in New Delhi on October 10, 2026, after a group of demonstrators allegedly toppled police barricades near Akashwani Bhawan. According to officials, around 25 to 30 protesters crossed barricades on Imtiaz Ali Marg while attempting to move towards the protest area.

Police officials said some demonstrators allegedly threw stones at security personnel during the confrontation. Two police personnel were reported injured in the incident. Authorities detained several protesters as security forces attempted to control the situation and prevent further movement towards restricted areas.

The protest was organised by CJP and its supporters to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over concerns surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The Election Commission's voter-list revision process has become a major point of political dispute, with protesters alleging irregularities.

Delhi Police had denied permission for the planned demonstration and deployed security personnel at key locations across the capital. Officials said hundreds of people had been detained as demonstrators attempted to gather despite restrictions. The situation highlighted the challenges faced by authorities in managing the protest while maintaining public order.
