Delhi Metro Closes Entry and Exit Gates at 57 Stations Ahead of CJP Protest on October 10

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced restrictions at 57 metro stations ahead of a planned protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and other groups at Jantar Mantar on October 10, 2026. According to reports published on October 9, entry and exit gates at the identified stations were scheduled to close from 9 PM on Friday and remain restricted until further notice.
The decision followed a request from Delhi Police, which cited concerns about large crowds moving towards sensitive locations during the planned demonstration. Police asked the metro authorities to implement preventive measures to manage crowd movement and maintain public order in the national capital.
The restrictions affect stations across several parts of Delhi, including central, northern, southern and eastern areas. Authorities also indicated that metro train frequency at the identified stations could be reduced on October 10, depending on the security situation and crowd movement.
However, the restrictions do not mean that the entire Delhi Metro network has been shut down. Interchange facilities were expected to remain available at the affected stations, except at New Delhi Metro station, according to the reported advisory. Commuters were advised to check official service updates before travelling.
The measures come ahead of the CJP's planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with organisers raising concerns over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Delhi Police has cited security and public-order concerns surrounding the proposed gathering. Commuters should consult the latest DMRC announcements for updates on station access and metro services.
