Rahul Gandhi Claims 200 Government Officials, Including ED and CBI Personnel, Are in Touch With Opposition

Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi claimed on October 12, 2026, that around 200 officials working under the Narendra Modi-led government were in contact with the Opposition and sharing information.
Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, he specifically mentioned officials associated with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Ministry of External Affairs.
Gandhi made the statement amid escalating political tensions over alleged irregularities in electoral-roll revisions and the Opposition's demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign. He also urged Kumar to become an approver, alleging that the election chief had committed wrongdoing. These accusations remain claims made by Gandhi and have not been established as proven findings.
The remarks came ahead of a planned march by INDIA bloc leaders towards the Supreme Court. The Opposition has been protesting over concerns related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and what it describes as threats to electoral fairness. Gandhi said the movement would continue until the Opposition's demands were addressed.
Gandhi's claim about 200 officials has drawn attention because it involves personnel from major government agencies and departments. However, he did not publicly identify the officials in the reports reviewed, and the claim has not been independently verified. The government agencies' responses would be needed to establish whether the alleged information-sharing is occurring as described.
