Sonam Wangchuk's Hunger Strike Enters 17th Day, Health Worsens

New Delhi: Climate activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk's indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar has entered its 17th day, with growing concerns over his health. Doctors monitoring him have reported significant weight loss and falling blood sugar levels, while supporters continue to gather at the protest site.

Wangchuk has refused to end his fast, saying he will continue until meaningful action is taken on the issues he has raised. His protest has drawn attention from citizens, activists, students, and civil society groups, many of whom have joined demonstrations in solidarity.

The hunger strike has also prompted appeals from several political leaders, writers, and public figures. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and other prominent voices have urged Wangchuk to end his fast, expressing concern that his health is deteriorating rapidly and emphasizing that his life is invaluable.

As the protest continues, supporters are calling for constructive dialogue to address Wangchuk's demands. With his condition under close medical observation, the coming days are expected to be crucial both for his health and for the future of the ongoing movement.
