Telangana Man Buys ₹1.23 Lakh Honda Activa After Saving ₹10 Coins for 3 Years

A man from Telangana has drawn attention after purchasing a Honda Activa worth approximately ₹1.23 lakh using ₹10 coins he saved over three years. Identified as B. Ravi Joseph, a resident of Laksettipet in Mancherial district, he collected the coins gradually through everyday savings. Instead of setting aside large amounts at once, he built up his savings over time and eventually used them to purchase the scooter.
According to reports, Ravi Joseph began collecting ₹10 coins on October 10, 2023. He saved the coins he received during routine transactions, including purchases of groceries and vegetables. Over the next three years, his collection grew to approximately ₹1,23,000, requiring 12,300 coins of ₹10 each. His decision to save small amounts regularly helped him accumulate enough money to make the purchase.
When Ravi Joseph arrived at the showroom with bags full of coins, the staff faced the task of counting the entire amount before completing the transaction. The counting process reportedly took around two hours. The unusual payment method attracted attention because of the large number of coins involved, although ₹10 coins remain valid Indian currency. His family had reportedly worried during the saving period about whether the coins would continue to be accepted.
Ravi Joseph's purchase has highlighted how consistent saving can help people meet significant financial goals over time. Reports indicate that problems with his previous vehicle contributed to his decision to buy a new scooter. His story has since attracted public interest, demonstrating how small contributions accumulated over several years can add up to a substantial amount. The purchase also serves as a reminder that valid currency can be used for everyday transactions, although businesses may need additional time to count large quantities of coins.
