Under-Construction Slab Collapses in Ghaziabad, 11 People Injured

An under-construction building slab collapsed in the Shaheed Nagar area of Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on October 12, 2026. The incident triggered an emergency response after initial reports raised fears that several people were trapped beneath the debris.
According to media reports, the concrete slab and its supporting structure gave way while construction work was underway. Around 11 people were reportedly trapped and injured in the collapse, prompting police and emergency services to rush to the location.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire services and local police participated in the rescue operation. Rescue personnel worked to remove debris and bring the trapped individuals to safety.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Reports indicated that some victims sustained serious injuries, although the condition of those affected may vary as medical assessments continue.
Initial reports suggested that the slab was being constructed at a considerable height and that questions had been raised about the adequacy of its supporting structure. Authorities were investigating the circumstances surrounding the collapse and possible construction-related negligence.
The incident has renewed concerns about construction safety and the importance of following structural standards at building sites. The final cause of the collapse will depend on the findings of the official investigation.
